Why All-on-6 Has No Fixed Price
If you have searched for All-on-6 costs and found wildly different numbers, you are not imagining it. A single arch of All-on-6 can genuinely cost anywhere from £9,000 to £22,000 in the UK depending on the clinic, the materials, and — crucially — what is and is not included in the quote. Understanding why is the first step to comparing quotes accurately.
The price you pay is assembled from multiple independent components, each of which can vary significantly. A clinic that quotes low on implants may charge more for the prosthesis, or may not have included bone grafting that your individual anatomy requires. The only way to compare quotes meaningfully is to understand what each component is and whether it is covered.
The Cost Components
Diagnostic Imaging (CT Scan)
Before any price can be properly confirmed, a cone beam CT (CBCT) scan must be taken. This produces a 3D image of the jaw showing bone volume, density, and the position of critical structures. In the UK, CBCT scans typically cost between £150 and £400 depending on the facility. Some clinics include this in their treatment quote; many do not. Never accept a firm price without a CT scan having been assessed — it is not possible to plan implant surgery safely without one.
The Six Implants
Each implant is a titanium fixture that is placed into the jawbone. Premium implant brands — Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Dentsply Sirona — cost between £600 and £1,200 per implant at UK clinic rates. For All-on-6, that means the implants alone represent £3,600 to £7,200 of the total cost. Budget implant brands cost less, but come with less clinical evidence and potentially fewer compatible components if you need future work.
Abutments
Abutments are the connector components that attach the prosthesis to the implants. They are sometimes bundled into the implant cost, sometimes listed separately. In the UK, expect £150 to £400 per abutment. For six implants, that is £900 to £2,400. Always ask whether abutments are included in the implant price.
Temporary Prosthesis
After implant surgery, you go home wearing a temporary prosthesis while the implants integrate over the following months. This is almost always acrylic and costs between £1,000 and £2,500 for a full arch in the UK. Some clinics include this; others charge separately. Without a temporary prosthesis, you would have no teeth during the healing period — it is non-negotiable.
Permanent Prosthesis
This is often the largest single variable in the total cost. An acrylic (PMMA) full-arch prosthesis typically costs £2,500 to £4,000 in the UK. A full-arch zirconia prosthesis — the premium option — costs £4,000 to £8,000, sometimes more at high-end practices. This single choice can swing your total bill by several thousand pounds, so it is worth understanding the difference before you decide. Our zirconia vs acrylic guide covers the tradeoffs in detail.
Extractions
If you have remaining teeth that need to come out before implants can be placed, each extraction is typically charged separately. In the UK, straightforward extractions cost £80 to £200 per tooth. Surgical extractions of impacted or broken teeth are higher. If you have several failing teeth, this can add £500 to £1,500 to the total.
Bone Grafting
If CT imaging shows insufficient bone volume at any implant site, grafting is required before (or at the time of) implant placement. In the UK, bone grafting costs £500 to £2,500 per site depending on the extent of the deficiency. A sinus lift for upper jaw implants is at the higher end of this range. This is one of the most significant sources of unexpected cost in implant treatment — it cannot be determined without a CT scan.
What UK Clinics Are Actually Charging
For a straightforward single-arch All-on-6 with no bone grafting needed, using a premium implant brand and an acrylic permanent prosthesis, UK clinics are typically quoting £12,000 to £17,000. Add zirconia for the permanent prosthesis and the range shifts to £15,000 to £22,000.
These figures represent the all-in cost at reputable UK practices for a typical case. Prices at specialist implant centres in London tend toward the upper end. Regional practices outside London may offer marginally lower figures, but the core material costs do not vary dramatically.
The significant cost of UK All-on-6 is the main driver behind the growth in patients seeking treatment abroad. Our comparison of NHS, private UK, and abroad options sets out the full picture for patients weighing their options.
What a Quote Comparison Checklist Looks Like
When you receive a quote from any clinic — UK or abroad — these are the questions that matter:
- Is the CT scan included in the quoted price?
- Which implant brand and system will be used? (Get the name in writing.)
- Is the temporary prosthesis included?
- What material is the permanent prosthesis — acrylic or zirconia?
- Are extractions included, and if so, how many?
- Is bone grafting included, or is it charged additionally if needed?
- Are abutments included or charged separately?
- What follow-up appointments are included after the permanent prosthesis is fitted?
A quote that does not clearly answer all of these questions is not a complete quote. You cannot meaningfully compare costs without this information. Our guide on questions to ask before agreeing to treatment expands on each of these points.
The Hidden Costs That Catch Patients Out
Even when a quote covers all the components above, there are costs that patients frequently do not account for:
Aftercare appointments — most clinics include a limited number of post-surgery check-ups in the quoted price, but ongoing hygiene visits, prosthesis adjustments, and the annual implant review are usually charged separately. Budget £150 to £350 per appointment for specialist hygiene and review visits.
Prosthesis adjustment — after the permanent prosthesis is fitted, minor adjustments to the bite are common and often included for the first few appointments. Significant modifications requested later may be charged.
Travel and accommodation for those treating abroad — for patients travelling to Turkey, Hungary, or elsewhere, two round-trip flights and two hotel stays represent a meaningful addition to the total. Budget £600 to £1,400 for two round trips to Istanbul plus accommodation.
